Top Denali National Park Tours
One of the best ways to experience Denali National Park is by bus. Guided bus tours are available from May to September and travel the scenic Denali National Park Road. At 92 miles long, this road parallels the Alaska Range and travels through valleys and mountain passes. Breathtaking vistas await at every turn, and there are many opportunities to view Denali. Moose, wolves, caribou, and Dall sheep can be seen here as well.
The driver is your narrator on the tour bus. He or she will provide an interesting and informative program to accompany your journey along Denali Park Road. Tour buses make restroom stops and pause for views of wildlife and scenery. A snack or full lunch is also offered. There are three tour bus options available for guests:
If you’d rather experience Denali on foot, you’re in luck. A variety of ranger-led walks and hikes are offered throughout the park. One of our favorites is the Morning & Afternoon Nature Walk, which starts at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Denali Visitor Center. This easy two-hour trek explores the taiga ecosystem, a habitat that’s home to red squirrels, moose, and a wide variety of flowers and berries. It’s available from mid-May to mid-September each year.
Another popular tour is the Eielson Alpine Hike, offered from June to September at the Eielson Visitor Center. This excursion is strenuous and includes two hours of travel up and down Thorofare Ridge. You’ll have tremendous views of Denali and chances to see large mammals like grizzly bears and caribou. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
