Why You Need to Visit Bleeding Heart Brewery

If you’re a beer lover, you know there’s nothing more refreshing than a delicious craft brew. From porters to IPA’s, everything tastes better when it’s made by hand. This is especially true at Bleeding Heart Brewery, where two Alaska natives are producing crisp, clean beers with heart – one barrel at a time. Here are some things you should know about their brewery.

Learn the History

Stefan Marty and Zack Lanphier are the masterminds behind Bleeding Heart Brewery. Marty had been home brewing in Palmer for years, and after he teamed up with Lanphier, the pair was regularly approached by friends and family offering to buy their beer. They decided to start a Kickstarter fund in the fall of 2014 and quickly gained support from the community. Today, Bleeding Heart is Alaska’s smallest production brewery, tucked away on an original colonial homestead in Palmer.

Taste the Beer

Bleeding Heart’s mission is to create unique, high-quality ales and lagers that bring new craft drinkers and seasoned veterans together. Signature beers include the Grounds for Divorce Coffee Porter, Valley Trash Dirty Blonde, Kold Shoulder Kristallweizen, and the namesake Bleeding Heart India Pale Ale. Along with the core lineup, Marty and Lanphier produce homebrew style batches of experimental beers for the remaining taps.

Guests may visit the Bleeding Heart Brewery tap room from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 12 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Be sure to check their Facebook page for details and updates.
