Plan the Ultimate Trip to Eklutna Lake

Visit Eklutna Historical Park

Experience a blending of cultures at Eklutna Historical Park. Here, the traditions of native Athabaskan Indians meet the Old Russian Orthodox traditions passed down from the early settlers back in the 1800s. Explore the old St. Nicholas Church as well as its modern counterpart, then check out the traditional Spirit Houses. Kids under 11 receive free admission so feel free to bring the little ones along as well.

Enjoy Some Fun in the Sun

When you sign up for a summer group trip with Lifetime Adventures, you open yourself up to a plethora of awesome lakeside activities. Whether you’re interested in mountain biking, kayaking, or racing around on four-wheelers, there’s no shortage of summer fun at Eklutna Lake. If you want to get up close and personal with Alaskan wildlife, pitch a tent in one of the specially designated camping grounds.

Experience Winter Fun, Too!

Of course, summer isn’t the only time to visit the lake. There’s plenty to see and do during the winter season as well! Set up a sled race, enjoy a game of snowshoe football, or even participate in a fire building contest. Eklutna Lake is a blast no matter what time of year you visit.

Take a Hike or a Scenic Drive

No trip to Alaska is complete without hiking some beautiful nature trails, and Eklutna Lake has plenty to explore. Take a trek up to the beautiful Thunderbird Falls, or go check out Twin Peaks (it’s not just a TV show, you know). If you’re not in the mood for hiking, you’re in luck. This region’s smooth roads offer an easy scenic drive without sacrificing any of the gorgeous views. Bring your camera but remember: there won’t be anything like seeing the real thing!
