Alaska Garden Gate B&B recommends a trip to Vern Halter’s kennel—the enthusiasm Vern and his team have for mushing is infectious, and you’ll be amazed at how much you’ll learn about it as a sport and a way of life up here.
What You'll Experience
Located about 40 minutes north of Alaska Garden Gate B&B, Dream a Dream Dog Farm homestead invites visitors to meet Iditarod veterans Vern and his wife Susan, and the star athletes, the dogs.
Iditarod Presentation includes a 10 minute video filmed on the Iditarod Trail, followed by informative demonstrations on training and care for the dogs, race logistics and trail conditions, and how the race strategy has evolved.
Then, meet the huskies, take photos, and take a guided nature walk through the woods with the puppies.
Finally, take a ride with the dogs on the new 6-person rig through the woods. You can see and feel the power and love the dogs have for what they do.
